Overall, you have a really good starting point for your resume. Relevant information is laid out well and the use of bullet points keeps things organized and concise. You have headings on the second page of you resume, which is great, and the look of your resume is professional.

One thing that is hard to know from your resume, is what your professional interests are. I saw that a few of your entries were related to earthquake engineering. Is that something you are interested in? If so, it should be highlighted more prominently in your resume. 

Also try to think of the person who is reading your resume. What do they need to know? You provided, your contact information, education, work experience and related skills; which is a great starting point. Refer to my comment about adding an "Objective" or "Purpose" section to yuor resume. That will help you define what you are looking for and let potential employers know if your goals align with theirs.

Indentation and using your space effectively can make a huge difference in how you convey important information.

Hi Suhas,

Your resume is off to a great start. The content is solid - you have described a lot of practical work experiences on each project. A few suggestions:

• Rephrase or merge the bullet points that begin with "worked on." I want to know what you specifically did. You might still work in a way to mention what the project was and its value, but I would shy away from devoting a whole bullet point just to the project without explanation of your achievements.
• There is a bit of a "wall of text" effect happening, especially in the middle of the page. Are there any bullet points you can remove, or merge, to allow for a bit of spacing between projects or workplaces? For example, skills that are shared among different projects (coordination/collaboration skills, report or proposal prep, etc.) could be listed only once. Allowing some space will make it much easier to read, which should be a priority just as much as the content. The formatting of the top and bottom looks nice.
• A few items don't need to be capitalized: polymer and cementitious types of pipelining, hydraulic actuator, submittals, quantity take offs, concrete mix design reports.

If you can address these, your resume will be a lot smoother to read and in good shape!

The content and formatting on this look good - very few suggestions. It's clear you've put some good work into this. My suggestions:

• Rephrase the second Estimator Intern bullet, "created estimated averaging..." It's not clear (to me, at least, although I'm not an estimator) what it means.

I have a few suggestions:

• You can rephrase the second sentence of your summary to be more direct and cut a few words: "I bring to the table not only ..."
• "while controlled blasting" --> "during controlled blasting"
• Given your attention to layout formatting, I also encourage you to check the spacing and other text formatting. Specifically, check spacing of commas, hyphens, and parentheses in Technical Skills and Academic Projects sections
• Write out your full school names. Even though people might well know the schools from the abbreviations, don't assume that everyone who sees your resume will.

You have a lot of good content as well as design choices, and with these revisions I think your resume will be good to go.

George,
you weren't kidding when you said it is wordy. I think a lot of people feel they need to fill their resume as much as they can but really you just need to get the right information in there. My personal opinion for an entry level job, is to not list work experience that doesnt help showcase things you learned. Clearing up some space will also allow you to reformat a bit which will make it feel less wordy. Aside from this, your resume looks very professional so good job with the formatting.

I love the use of color to make the headers pop! The content is solid so great work! As a resume is typically one page, I have focused my suggestions on ways you can cut down wording:

·         Bullet points don't need to be full sentences, so for "I have five years of experience in teaching civil engineering at the undergraduate level with emphasis on structural engineering disciplines such as Applied statistics; Concrete structures; Structural analysis; Metallic structures and Mixed structures." You can shorten to "5 years experience teaching undergraduate civil engineering classes in the following topics: Applied statistics, Concrete structures, Structural analysis, Metallic structures and Mixed structures."

·         For shortening the Skills section, "I speak four different languages: Fluent in Portuguese and Cape Verdean Creole; Advanced level in English; Intermediate level in Spanish" can be changed to "Languages:  Portuguese (Fluent), Cape Verdean Creole(Fluent), English (Advanced level), Spanish(Intermediate level)

·         For work history, I would love to see more on the quantity side:

o   How many students are you advising for their thesis projects?

o   How many civil engineering departmental materials have you published? Or in what timeframe? Weekly? Monthly? Quarterly?

·         For the Educational Qualification, you can remove "Month and Year of Passing" from each bullet point and just keep the date. I typically see the full duration you were at last place listed i.e. June 2012 – June 2017.
