Tenure-Track Faculty Position
Assistant Professor – Transportation
The John A. Reif, Jr. Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) is seeking to recruit a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the general area of Transportation starting in or before August 2018.
Consideration will be given to applicants with appropriate levels of academic excellence and demonstrated research accomplishment. This faculty position will focus on the critical strategic education and research area of using innovative transportation modeling and analysis methods and digital technologies in transportation planning and operations, including transportation data analytics and Intelligent Transportation Systems.
Successful candidates should have an earned Ph.D. degree in civil, environmental, transportation, or materials engineering or closely-related field, and possess enthusiasm and ability to teach broadly within the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department.
Candidates are expected to demonstrate established scholarly and research track record related to the use of analytical methods, sensors, and digital communications to collect, process, and analyze, and disseminate information to improve the safety and efficiency, and to facilitate effective operation, performance-based planning and management of a transportation systems.
Candidates should also demonstrate research track record and interest in the area of traffic engineering and signal control, urban and regional transportation systems engineering. Of particular interest are the integration of transportation infrastructure with communication and computing networks, and the emerging field of drones for infrastructure management.
