    Our organisation is currently seeking an experienced trainer or subject matter expert to deliver a comprehensive lecture series/training session on International Building Codes, with a specific, in-depth focus on US codes (International Building Code - IBC).

    If you are a seasoned structural engineer, architect, or code enforcement professional with a passion for teaching and deep expertise in US code compliance, we would love to hear from you.

    The training will cover the following 8 core modules:

    1. Introduction to U.S. Building Codes

    • Overview of the regulatory framework, development, and adoption of the International Building Code (IBC).

    2. Building Occupancy Classification

    • Occupancy groups: A, B, E, F, H, I, M, R, S, U

    • Mixed occupancies and separated/unseparated provisions

    3. Construction Types

    • Type I, II, III, IV, and V construction

    • Fire-resistance requirements for structural elements

    • Baseline height and area limitations

    4. Building Height and Area Calculations

    • Determining allowable building area

    • Building height limitations and modifications (e.g., frontage increases, automatic sprinkler substitutions)

    5. Fire and Life Safety

    • Means of egress fundamentals

    • Occupant load calculations

    • Exit access, exits, and exit discharge

    • Travel distance requirements and common paths of travel

    • Fire barriers, fire partitions, and smoke barriers

    • Fire-rated assemblies and opening protectives

    6. Accessibility Requirements

    • Overview of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements

    • ADA Standards for Accessible Design

    • Accessibility provisions within the IBC

    • Accessible routes (provisions, widths, and slopes)

    • Restrooms and bathing facilities

    • Accessible parking requirements

    7. Code Analysis and Code Reports

    • Preparing a comprehensive code summary

    • Developing life-safety plans

    • Conducting occupancy and area analysis

    • Executing egress calculations

    • Generating accessibility compliance reports

    8. Specialized Topics

    • Healthcare facilities (Group I-2 requirements)

    • Educational facilities (Group E requirements)

    • Data centers (Special occupancy challenges)

    • High-rise buildings (Additional life-safety and structural provisions)
