Dear Brazil Group Members,
We will have another event as follows:
Event: Climate Change Adaptation Strategies for Coastal Infrastructure: From Theory to Action
When: April 2, 2024, 12:00pm EDT/6:00pm GMT
Cost: This is a free event. Use discount code NOPDH. If you would like to receive a certificate of continuing education credits, the cost is $15.
Register: https://register.gotowebinar.com/register/5266209235485402204
About: The main objective of this lecture is to showcase the most updated resiliency measures currently used to adapt ports and coastal infrastructure to climate change. R+D+i tools, numerical method models and policy recommendations are three of the main expertise areas that IH Cantabria Environmental-Hydraulic Institute uses to carry out their studies.
Speakers:
Javier Lopez Lara, PhD
Dr. Javier Lopez Lara is currently the Head of the Coastal Hydrodynamics and Infrastructure Group at IH Cantabria. In 1998, he graduated in Civil Engineer with Major in Structures and, in 2002 he got his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering at University of Cantabria (Spain). His research interests are focus on numerical modelling using CFD techniques of water wave mechanics, wave-structure interaction, wave generated turbulence, surf-zone hydrodynamics and environmental flows.
Alberto Fernández Pérez, PhD Candidate
Alberto is a Civil Engineer (2016), Master in Civil Engineering (2018) by the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and Master in Structural Engineering (2018) by the Illinois Institute of Technology of Chicago, USA. He is currently a PhD researcher at IHCantabria (Universidad de Cantabria), where he is developing his doctoral thesis titled "Methodological development for the flexible adaptation of coastal infrastructures to climate change". His research is focused on the development of new methodologies for the characterization of climate change risk and preparation of adaptation strategies for coastal and port infrastructures.
