  • March 2026 President's Letter - A New Foundation for ASCE UK

    Dear ASCE UK Section Members,

It is a privilege to address you as your Section President for the 2026 term. As we step into March, I am energized by the potential of our community and the vital role we play as a bridge between the UK and US engineering landscapes. My primary goal this month is to seek your support for a critical evolution of our Section: the formal transition to a Company Limited by Guarantee (CLG).

    Why the Initiative to Incorporate

Currently, our Section operates as an "unincorporated association." While this structure has served us in the past, it no longer provides the protection or the professional platform required for our 2026 ambitions—including a permanent Westminster presence and high-level institutional partnerships.

By voting "YES" in the upcoming ballot , you are helping us achieve:

    ·         Individual Protection: Establishing a "legal shield" that limits the personal liability of our members and volunteer officers.

    ·         Professional Credibility: Allowing us to sign formal agreements, manage finances,  with the transparency and status required of a 21st-century professional body.

    ·         Long-term Stability: Ensuring the ASCE UK Section remains a robust, independent entity that can serve its members for decades to come.

The Path Ahead: Our Vision for 2026

While we modernize our governance, our mission to deliver member value remains our priority. This year, the Board is focused on:

    ·         Strengthening Alliances: We are in active dialogue with the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) and  shall engage with other reputable , like-minded  Engineering Institutions in the United Kingdom and in Region 10 ,  to host joint high-level technical events.

    ·         Licensure & Mentorship: Mentoring members seeking dual-market authority through CEng (UK) and P.E. (USA) status.

    ·         Global Technical Exchange: Utilizing our status as an international section to bring US technical standards and innovations into the heart of the UK infrastructure conversation.

    Your Voice, Your Vote

To proceed, we require a formal vote from you. Members in the professional grade will shortly receive an email containing a link to our digital ballot. I ask that you take a few minutes to cast your vote. Your participation is essential to ensure our Section has the professional foundation it deserves.

    Yours in service,

    Gbemi
