    Hey Diovane,

Overall a great start. I think you added a bit too much information in the description for school and not enough information and details for your experience and extracurricular.

    Srushti,

Bedore I start, it looks like you do a lot of extracurriculars and have very good experience and grades!

I have to write the comments here instead of marking up your resume because there is no space. So my first comment would be to let your resume breathe. There is simply too much information here and it's overwhelming.

    1. add a tab to show your Master's so it'll be more separated from the school. Also don't bold both the school and degree. make one italics to help differentiate.
    2. Is it necessary to write all the classes you took? I think just your master's is enough and your work experience will do the rest.
    3. Alphabetize your technical skills.
    4. The operated tools and machinery is really cool but is it relevant? Can you shorten some of the names?
    5. Add an "S" to Academic ProjectS
    6. For your Acedmeic Proects, I would limit each to 2 bullet points. Right now it's tiring reading each bullet point for 5 different projects.
    7. Move your Professional experience above Academic Projects as it's more important. I would also remove the word research from the title unless you're trying to go into a research position.
    8. Keep the professional experience 3 bullet points. But like I said before, by the time I see this information I'm mentally drained.
    9. Increase the line spacing.

Remember that people hiring are going to be looking at a lot of resumes so try to make your resume visually appealing yet informative.

I didn't have a chance to read the bullet points because you need to remove some of them. If you submit your resume again, I'll take a look at the bullet points.

    Hey Sreelakshmi,

It looks like you're doing a lot of great work and are very passionate which does translate, simply work on organizing all that information into a readable page (or two).

Please see attached marked-up Resume. There was a lot of information on the resume so I wasn't able to review all of it.
Perhaps this is standard for pursuing research but for me it seems a bit disjointed and hard to read through.

    Hi Sreelakshmi,

Please find my review of your resume below.

There is a resume and there is a CV. This is more of a CV in terms of length and content.

As a resume, I believe that this could likely be condensed to 2 pages, using fewer titled sections than the 15 you currently have.

At the top of your resume, you could remove the lab you work at and all of the address information, leaving only your contact information present. I would also include only a single email address to avoid confusion.

GPA may need to be converted to the format used in the USA if you are applying to jobs in the USA.

The first "Skill set" to under "Education" should likely be titled something different – Try "Objective" or "Purpose".

Experiences – expand on these positions.

Consider moving "Awards and Achievements" to the bottom.

"Areas of Interest" could be redundant. Consider instead adding to "Objective" or "Purpose" at the top.

The content in your "Industry Connect" section is the type of material I think would be better to see under "Experiences" section. I would do the same with your "Teaching Assistant" section and "External Professional Services" section.

Merge "invited talks" with "Conferences". They don't need to be separate, and if you really want to, you can just add (invited talk) to the beginning or end of these.

On a resume and not a CV, I would remove your "Workshops/Professional Trainings" section.

Professional responsibilities – these might be more accurate to call "Academic Extracurriculars"

References – I notice these references do not contain any contact information. I would suggest removing this section and offering references upon request.

Just show your top accomplishments and experiences – select your best presentations if you don't have enough space for them all.

Aside from the length and the large number of rather specific sections, your CV is easy to read and well formatted. Considering some of the suggestions above would help convert it into a more compact format that is more representative of a resume.

I have reviewed your resume and you have a lot of great content included in it. Your format is professional and well organized. I especially like that you have an Objective statement! Great job! I think with a couple of tweaks your resume can be improved. I also gave some specific comments on how to get your resume to fit on a single page. See attached. Hi Kalp,

Thanks for providing your resume to be reviewed.

Please see below for my comments:

    • While your resume is well-organized in the table format, I must say I have never seen this type of formatting on a resume before! With that said, I think you can make it look cleaner and more professional by omitting the top and bottom lines of each section/box as well as the left lines and right lines
      • By omitting I mean change the line colors to transparent/white instead of the black lines so it's less harsh on the eyes
    • I would recommend playing around with the format of your resume too since omitting some of the table lines might have some words floating around or you can likely delete them if it's not necessary
      • For example, I would delete the text "roles and responsibilities" under each job/internship position because that is implied of what each bullet point means
      • I would also delete the text "achievements/participations" since that's already indicated in the header
    • Another formatting comment
      • Make your sections stand out more - make the text size bigger for the headers
      • You still have space on the left and right margins if you want to expand your table
    • Since it looks like you've already graduated from school, I would re-order your resume so it goes Job Experience first with your internships after since that still counts as work experience
      • After that I would have your certification/publication section, then core skills, then academics, then professional attributes/achievements
    • Your content is strong, you have varying action verbs and are specific with your roles/responsibilities - great job!
    • While your resume shows that you have a lot of experience, it's also not the place to word dump everything that you've done. A resume is meant to grab someone's attention with the highlights and snippets of your experience/achievements
      • Because you have a lot of information, it's hard for me to know what kind of job you're interested in applying for (this is where having an objective section could be helpful if you wanted to add one)
      • Since you should tailor your resume for each job that you apply for, I would recommend trimming down your resume by omitting sections that are not necessarily relevant for the job that you're applying for
      • For example, since you have plenty of work experience that is likely more recent than your academic projects, I would almost remove the academic projects section entirely since each bullet seems to represent a separate project and they all seem quite different

Overall - great job! Let me know if you have any questions/comments.

    Thanks,

    Joyce

    Hi Kamrul,

Thank you for sharing your resume to be reviewed. I have provided my feedback and comments in the attached PDF.

Overall, you have a lot of experience to showcase your skills. I would recommend diving into the specifics of your work experience because right now they seem quite general/vague, and the same goes for your career objective. Don't be afraid to quantify your results, what you did, etc and highlight your accomplishments.

Great job and let me know if you have any follow up questions/comments!

    Thanks,

    Joyce

    Hi John,

Overall I think your resume is very good. It is clearly structured, and you clearly communicate your job responsibilities and experience. I left some comments in the attached, mostly minor comments about words to remove or clarify.

You might also consider shortening the job experience descriptions by removing or combining some of the bullets. The bullets are well written, but most of the job sections are on the long side. You could keep all the info in a working document and trim it down to the most relevant items when you are applying to a position.

Best of luck and reach out with any questions!

    Thanks,

    Katie

    Hi Behlah,

Please find my review of your resume below:

    About Me

Your first sentence is great and provides most of the quick "hard facts" about yourself, as well as what your goal is.

Your second sentence is a little bit redundant.

I think you can remove the third sentence entirely. Find ways on your resume to show the attributes in this sentence, rather than saying them.

    Work Experience

I think this is your most important section. It is good that you have some previous work experience. I would dedicate more space to this section and explain exactly what you did there. What were your responsibilities? Are there ways to illustrate those attributes from the 3rd sentence of your About Me section?

    Education and Training

Nothing to add – unless you have a very high GPA that you wish to show off.

    Language Skills

This could take up one line instead of two. Not an issue right now but its space that you could allocate when you talk more about your work experience.

    Digital Skills

This section seems to take up more space than is needed. I see that you have listed certain programs such as Microsoft Word multiple times. In the engineering field, it is generally assumed that you are proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite. If you are a power-user and are very proficient with Excel macros or VBA scripting, that would be good to specify. Otherwise, you could leave it off your resume entirely or just say "Microsoft Office Suite". Also, I believe the word "beginner" is mis-spelled.

    Honors and Awards

I would remove "This recognition reflects my

dedication, innovative spirit, research caliber, and proficiency in visually communicating complex engineering concepts." And instead replace it with a description of the project that you were presenting. This is another example of where it is better to show off your attributes, rather than state that you have them.

    Projects

This seems like a useful section – if these are work-related projects, move them to your Work Experience section. If they are academic, I might consider moving them to be just beneath your Education section. Consider explaining more about these projects if you have the space to do so.

    Final notes –

    1.       Overall, the structure of your resume is very organized and easy to read.

    2.       If you are applying to jobs in the USA, consider removing personal information such as birth, nationality, gender. These things could actually end up disqualifying you from opportunities where a company wants to avoid any claims of bias.

    3.       Further simplify – just keep one of your two phone numbers on the resume, not both.

Hector - you have a solid resume with an excellent format - your objective statement is clear and concise.  My critiques are centered around your work experience:

For the Graduate Assistant - the first bullet simply restates the work experience - provide more substance in your descriptions - why is this experience important on your resume?  Carry that through to the second and third bullet - I was interested in the experience but didn't fully understand it.

For the Teaching Assistant - the dates are confusing - it states until present but this experience is in Ecuador and you attend the University in Virginia - is this experience virtual or part-time?  I would also move it further down as employers want to see your Engineering experience and the BIM Modeler highlights that better.

For Engineering Assistant - expand on the first bullet - not everyone may be familiar with the ASTM designations.

For your last work experience, I would change the title to Survey & Architectural Intern.

Overall, you have an excellent resume - good luck to you in the future.

    Mike

    Ambar,

You have some quality items on your resume but the format needs some adjustments.

    • Change Profile Summary to Objective - also, the description you have tells the employer about your characteristics but not what you are looking for.  Reword this and be more precise - what are you looking to do with your degree?  What interests you? Also, depending on the employment application, you may need to modify this objective to match the criteria of the advertisement.
    • Move your Education to be directly under the Objective - as a newly graduated Engineer, employers want to see that.  Also, reformat the wording - the university is always listed first followed underneath by Degree, Major and Date of Graduation (there are a few mis-spellings) - that turns off employers - please proofread and run spellcheck.
    • Under Experience, move your internship to the top of this section.  Employers are always looking for young engineers with engineering experience.  Also, give more specific examples - "communicated effectively" - about what? I found myself liking your experience but having questions about the entire scope - be more specific.
    • Same comment for the Senior Design - needs some more specificity - its attractive experience to employers but some more substance in the description will enhance it.
    • Finally, you use terms like excellent and extremely but for people skills, you use "good" - why? I would follow through with the word excellent - also, these descriptions mimic your profile summary thus necessitating changing the top section to Objective - try not to duplicate items in the resume.

I hope these comments help - good luck to you in the future.

    Mike

    Patricia,

Looking at your education listings, it became obvious to me that you changed professions.  For employers to better understand you and what you are looking for, you need to include an Objective statement at the top of this resumes.  Your change in career, your breadth of experience all points to a driven professional but future employers usually scan resumes quickly and you need to attract their attention quickly - once your Objective draws them in, the extent of your resume will take over.

    Some other suggestions:

    • Under WRK Engineers, give an example of the EXACT details of the construction that you assisted in designing and implementing.  I think this section could be expanded and your "Graduate Teaching" simplified to save space - some of your descriptions are wordy - the first bullet takes up four line.
    • Expand on your internship with Boeing - that is an impressive internship and should carry more weight in your resume than your mentorship or teaching.
    • For Classroom Mentor - include STEM in the title - that's important to employers.

Normally, a resume should be one page but with your range of experience, 2 pages is acceptable but do not let it go passed that - as you implement my suggestions to add to certain section, edit and condense the other areas accordingly.

I hope these comments help you and good luck to you in the future.

    Mike
