  • ASCE Mentor Match Meet Up

    Quarterly check in. If you are active in ASCE Mentor Match or an ASCE member who is interested in enrolling you are welcome to join our conference call. Our host will be sharing a few mentoring tips. This will also be a time to discuss any challenges you’ve faced while allowing you to connect with others in ASCE Mentor Match.  

    Our hosts will be mentoring partners Dr. Dennis D. Truax, Ph.D., P.E., D.WRE, F.ASCE and Mitchell Garner, P.E., M.ASCE. 

    Dr. Dennis D. Truax is James T. White Endowed Chair, Department Head and Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Mississippi State University and Director of the Mississippi Transportation Research Institute. Now in his 40th year on the Mississippi State faculty, he has assumed various roles as mentor to students, staff, and faculty.

    He was elected a Fellow of American Society of Civil Engineers in 1999 and Fellow of the National Society of Professional Engineers in 2016. He is one of two Chapter Honor Members of the Mississippi State University Chapter of Chi Epsilon and was recently recognized by the National Council of Examiners for Professional Engineers and Surveyors for his distinguished service to the profession.

    Dennis has served on the Board of Direction of the American Society of Civil Engineers as a Director and Society Treasurer. He also holds, or has held, leadership positions with NSPE, NCEES, and ABET. He has served on Mississippi Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Surveyors for ten years, serving as President of the Board twice. He is also Chair of the Onsite Wastewater Advisory Council for the Mississippi Department of Health.

    Mitchell Garner, P.E., M.ASCE is a pre-construction manager for a large commercial contractor.  Originally from Mississippi, he has been in Louisiana for almost 8 years.  He enjoys volunteering and sitting on the board of the local Engineers Without Borders NOLA Professional Chapter.

  • Structures Congress Scholarships

    Do you know a student who has never attended Structures Congress? Encourage them to apply for the Student Scholarship! We have 40 spots open this year thanks to generous donors and support from the SEI Futures Fund.

    We also have 25 Young Professional (35 and younger) Scholarships - with five of them allocated specifically for young professional full-time teaching faculty.

  • Multi-Region Leadership Conference, Regions 3, 6, 7

    The 2020 Multi-Region Leadership Conference for Regions 3, 6, & 7 will be held on January 10-11 in Detroit, MI.  The conference includes the Workshop for Section, Branch and Institute Leaders (WSBIL), the Central Region Younger Member Council (CRYMC), and the Workshop for Student Chapter Leaders (WSCL).

  • Society Scholarships and Society Fellowships for Fall 2020

    Students are invited to apply for valuable Society Scholarships and Society Fellowships for Fall 2020. Undergrads may apply for: Lawrence W. and Francis W. Cox Scholarship; Eugene C. Figg, Jr. Civil Engineering Scholarship, John Lenard Civil Engineering Scholarship, Robert B. B. and Josephine N. Moorman Scholarship, Samuel Fletcher Tapman ASCE Student Chapter Scholarship, Y.C. Yang Civil Engineering Scholarship.

    Grad students may apply for: Trent R. Dames and William W. Moore Fellowship, Freeman Fellowship, J. Waldo Smith Hydraulic Fellowship, Arthur S. Tuttle Fellowship.

    Complete applications, including current transcripts, are due February 10, 2020.
