Description

Join the EWRI National Capital Section at noon on January 16th as we present our monthly webinar series. This month we will hear from Dan Walker on the collaboration between ASCE and NOAA.

Dan is a Senior Geologist with EA Engineering, Science, and Technology, Inc. (PBC) and conducts research through the U. of Maryland’s Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Dr. Walker has been involved with strategic planning and management of state and federal science for over 30 years, including senior positions at the National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medicine, the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, NOAA’s Climate Program Office, and the Computer Sciences Corporation.  A former U.S. Delegate to the International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and a chapter author (Coastal Effects) of the Fifth National Climate assessment, Dr. Walker is a frequent speaker at climate and ocean policy meetings and is an active member of ASCE. In addition to being a founding member and Immediate-past Chair of ASCE’s Committee on Adaptation to a Changing Climate (CACC), Dan also serves as Co-Chair of the ASCE NOAA Task Force on Climate Resilience in Engineering Practice and is a member of the NOAA's National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) Architecture & Engineering Sector Advisory Group.
