ASCE Austin - March Branch Meeting

ASCE Austin is excited to host Dr. Jorge Zornberg, Professor and Joe J. King Chair in Engineering at the University of Texas (UT) at Austin as our March speaker!
Prof. Zornberg has over 35 years of experience in practice and research in geotechnical and geosynthetics engineering. His research focuses on transportation geotechnics, environmental geotechnics, geosynthetics, unsaturated soils, and expansive clays. From 2010 to 2014, Prof. Zornberg served as president of the International Geosynthetics Society (IGS). He served the Geo-Institute of ASCE in numerous roles, including chair of its Geosynthetics Technical Committee, its 2017 Geo-Congress, and its International Activities Council. He has authored over 550 technical publications, written several book chapters, and been awarded three patents. Prof. Zornberg received numerous prestigious awards, including the 2024 Peck Lecture Award. He was also recognized with the Mercer Lecture, ASCE’s Croes Medal, the IGS Award, ASCE’s Collingwood Prize, as well as the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE) awarded by the President of the United States. In 2019, the IGS established the “Zornberg Lecture,” an honorary lecture recognizing his contributions to the discipline of geosynthetics.
Recently, Dr. Zornberg was named the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Geo-Institute's 2024 Ralph B. Peck recipient. The Ralph B. Peck Award is presented for outstanding contributions to the geotechnical engineering profession through the publication of a thoughtful, carefully researched case history or histories, or the publication of recommended practices or design methodologies based on the evaluation of case histories.
NOTE: Time is allotted for lunch beginning at 11:30 AM. The meeting and speaker presentation will begin around 12 PM. A short period for questions & answers is reserved prior to 1 PM.
Registration ends on Friday, March 15th; you may still attend by paying at the door (cash, check, paypal). As a non-profit, we operate on a budget that is highly dependent on revenue from sponsorships, membership fees, and event/program fees (such as this luncheon). To help ensure a meal headcount for our events we require registration in advance. At this time, we are not offering a cancellation or refund policy.
