ASCE Austin - June Branch Meeting

ASCE Austin is excited to meet for our June luncheon for a presentation featuring Kirk Scanlon, AICP. Kirk will be presenting on the City of Austin’s program for emerging technologies and status of AV deployment.
Kirk is the Division Manager for the Austin Transportation and Public Works Smart Mobility Office (SMO). SMO’s goal is to foster Innovation for an Exceptional Mobility Experience through partnerships to carry out real-world testing of new and emerging technology, developing strategic plans for ITS, and designing smart city corridors to create a fully realized ecosystem of ITS to reduce congestion and improve safety. He has been recognized with a Civic Futures Award for procurement and vendor ethics for Evaluating Technology Pilot for Equity, Efficiency and Transparency.
Before joining ATD, Kirk directed the planning division for GrantWorks conducting comprehensive plans for communities throughout Texas, managed LCRA’s Capital Improvement Program for parks and open space and delivered public-private partnerships for the development and programming of Austin parks and facilities. Kirk is an alumnus of the University of Texas, Austin, having earned a masters in Community and Regional Planning as well as a bachelor’s from St. Mary’s College of Maryland. He is a certified planner (A.I.C.P.) with the American Planning Association.
NOTE: Time is allotted for lunch beginning at 11:30 AM. The meeting and speaker presentation will begin around 12 PM. A short period for questions & answers is reserved prior to 1 PM.
Registration ends on Friday, June 13th; you may still attend by paying at the door (cash, check, paypal). As a non-profit, we operate on a budget that is highly dependent on revenue from sponsorships, membership fees, and event/program fees (such as this luncheon). To help ensure a meal headcount for our events we require registration in advance. At this time, we do not offer refunds.
