Topic: STOWE

The presentation will first include an introduction to aggregate piers as a foundation system. It will then cover the industry standards regarding quality control for aggregate piers, as well as the need for modernization of this process. The presentation will also explain how various Civil Engineering disciplines can impact the quality and safety of aggregate piers on projects both before, during, and after installation.

 Presenter:          Nicole Bartlett, PE / Engineering Division Manager CHARLOTTE WATER

Bio:

  • BS in Biosystems Engineering from Clemson and a Masters of Civil Engineering from NC State 
  • Worked at a private engineering consulting firm specializing in water/wastewater as a project engineer for 7 years, then moved to Charlotte Water (a department of the City of Charlotte) for 8 years where she has served in the Engineering CIP group as Project Manager, Senior Project Manager and now as a Division Manager. 
  • Experienced in procurement, design, real estate acquisition, construction and management of capital water and sewer infrastructure projects including water treatment facilities, wastewater treatment facilities, lift stations, pump stations, sewer rehabilitation and pipeline projects.  Projects have ranged from small maintenance up to extensive large-scale coordination projects exceeding $400M.  Experienced in multiple project delivery methods including Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build and Construction Manager at Risk.
    Lives in Charlotte, NC with her 3 kids, 2 cats, 2 dogs and her husband.

Bio:

  • BS in Civil Engineering from UNC-Charlotte and a Masters of Civil Engineering from UNC-Charlotte 
  • Project Manager with a focus on the design and construction of both water and wastewater treatment facilities (inside the fence) 
  • 12 years of industry experience, all with HDR 
  • 8 of the 12 years have been primarily on collaborative delivery projects; including CMAR, Progressive Design-Build and Owner’s Advisor. 
  • Lives in Belmont, NC with his wife, 4 year old daughter, and cat.
