About the Presentation: 

AMTRAK B&P Tunnel Replacement Program in Baltimore, Maryland will be presented on downtown Baltimore’s Mega Project.  This will include a summary of the project and how the contractor is embracing technology using AI in the construction industry.

Kiewit – Shea Tunnel Construction (KSTC) is responsible for advancing the design and construction of the new Frederick Douglass Tunnel. This includes the below-grade tunnel components, including two bored tunnels designed for electrified passenger trains, mined caverns, cross-passages, and other related substructures. Amtrak awarded KSTC a “Construction Manager at Risk” contract in 2024.

Mr. Neidballa is a 1991 graduate of the College of Engineering (Civil) at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.  He has been with Kiewit since 2007 and has led numerous tunnel/rail projects in Chicago, Washington DC and South Dakota.  In his free time, Dave enjoys sports, music, fly-fishing, the outdoors and spending time with his wife and six kids. Dave’s home is in the Chicago area.
