ASCE Making the Grade: Schools

When:  May 20, 2026 from 02:00 PM to 03:00 PM (ET)

Join us as we explore priority needs and solutions in school infrastructure! Hosted by the Build America Schools Infrastructure Coalition (BASIC) and the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), the event will examine criteria such as funding and capacity detailed in the 2025 Report Card for America’s Infrastructure. The report, released every four years, assigned a “D+” to the nation’s school facilities unchanged from its previous report grade four years earlier. Notable issues continue to pose challenges including general maintenance of existing buildings as well as increasing demands in air conditioning. In turn, the report points to priority recommendations to improve facilities such as alternative funding models, enhanced data collection, and better determination of life-cycle costs for future budgeting and project expenses.

The May 20th presentation will bring together school infrastructure experts to provide thoughtful perspective on practical and scalable solutions. Panelists for the webinar include:

  • Mary Filardo, Executive Director, 21st Century Schools Fund
  • Pamela Loeffelman, Senior Principal, DLR Group
  • Bill Bradley, Principal, Practice Leader, Stantec
  • Ally Talcott, Executive Director, BASIC
  • Greg DiLoreto, ASCE Past President & Member, ASCE’s Committee on America’s Infrastructure
