Phoenix Branch Sustainability Committee

Educational Presentation

The ASCE Phoenix Branch Sustainability Committee will be hosting its third online educational presentation of 2024.  Larry Roth, PE, GE, ENV SP, will be presenting on climate change effects on infrastructure. In the past, a stable climate has enabled the design and operation of long-lived civil infrastructure that protects the health, safety, and welfare of the public it serves. Our climate, however, is no longer stable with extreme weather events and changing climate stressors put civil infrastructure at risk. This presentation will discuss how risk analysis, life-cycle cost analysis, and adaptive management can be applied to help civil engineers deal with a future made uncertain because of climate change.
