ASCE Maryland Younger Member Group: Canoe & Scoop Trash Pickup 2026

Join the ASCE Maryland YMG for our favorite fun and free service event, Canoe and Scoop! Enjoy paddling canoes on the river and the skyline views, while helping to clean the shorelines. The YMG will provide pizza after the event for all registered volunteers. This event is open to anyone - ASCE members and non-members, family, and friends are welcome to register and attend. This event is free, however advanced registration is required! 

Details:

  • Bathroom facilities are limited to portable toilets.
  • One canoe fits 2 adults comfortably, and everyone will pair off during the event.
  • Children under 12 years old must be in a canoe with 2 adults.
  • This program time includes orientation, paddling instructions, launching and paddling. 
  • Canoes, paddles, trash bags, safety equipment and trash pickers are all provided at no cost!
  • Private canoes and kayaks are permitted. 
  • Participants may also bring their own paddles, or Coast Guard approved PFD if they wish. 
  • Life vests must be worn at all times while on dock and on the water. 
  • If Baltimore City Parks and Rec (BCRP) cancels a trip due to bad weather (unsafe conditions) or staff conflicts, the YMG will be notified and will update you asap. 
  • We suggest that you bring sunscreen, hats, water, and any other sun/heat protection.
