Decarbonizing Concrete

There is significant opportunity to reduce the embodied carbon of concrete — in some cases by up to 50% — with minimal impact on overall project cost. Achieving these reductions, however, requires early coordination among the project team during the design phase. This presentation will explore practical approaches to low-carbon concrete mix design, including the environmental and operational considerations associated with performance-based versus prescriptive specifications. Current and emerging carbon-reduction technologies will also be discussed, along with the market trends and industry demands driving innovation across the concrete industry.
