Project Tour 

  • 3:30-5:00 p.m. - FREE tour of the construction site led by project personnel (Meeting location TBD)

Dinner Meeting at The Stroudsmoor

  • 5:30-6:30 p.m. - Happy Hour with cash bar
  • 6:30-8:30 p.m. - Dinner with project presentation by Tyler Kerstetter, PE (Lead Designer, CDM Smith)

  • We can only accommodate 60 registered participants.
  • Non-ASCE members are welcome!

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The I-80 Section 05S project is the reconstruction of the I-80 Exit 308 Interchange in East Stroudsburg, PA.  The project includes:

  • Widening of I-80 from four (4) lanes to six (6) lanes
  • Replacement of the I-80 mainline bridge over Lincoln Avenue and the former DL&W Railroad
  • Reconstruction of the interchange ramps to provide increased acceleration and deceleration lane lengths
  • Replacement of the Prospect Street Bridge to meet current vertical clearance standards over I-80
  • Several retaining walls along I-80 to limit the impact on right-of-way

OUR SPEAKER

Tyler Kerstetter, PE, is a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University and is a registered Professional Engineer. Mr. Kerstetter has over 13 years of engineering experience with work performed in highway, transit, power, and aviation industries.  He has been involved in highway projects ranging from smaller bridge replacements to large-scale roadway total reconstruction projects.  Although Mr. Kerstetter’s technical experience includes complex bridge design, project management, and highway design, he is most passionate about developing his staff to deliver solutions for our clients. He currently serves as the North and West Regional leader for CDM Smith’s Transportation Structures Practice. He served as a structures lead and is the construction consultation manager for the I80 Section O5S project. Including the I80 project, Mr. Kerstetter has managed construction consultation on over $900 million dollars worth of projects that CDM Smith has designed for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation in the last 10 years.

Tyler's presentation will be an overview of the design of the I80 Section 05S project and solutions that mitigated challenges through the design process.
