Our speaker will be J. Kent Holland (President of ConstructionRisk, LLC) and he will deliver his presentation on Managing Risks when Providing Subcontracted Design Services to a Design-Build Contractor.
Presentation:
Design-Build projects create unique risks for design subconsultants. This seminar will discuss these risks, examine court decisions involving design professionals, and explore ways to manage or reduce the risks.
Topics include:
1) Why are there more risks when working as a design subconsultant to the design-builder,
2) Example claims against designers by design-builders,
3) Managing the risks by contract language,
4) Managing the risks in the field.

About the Speaker:
J. Kent Holland, J.D. is a construction lawyer located in Tysons Corner, Virginia where his practice focuses on representation of design professionals. He represents design professionals, contractors, and design-builders. He is also the founder and president of a risk management-consulting firm, ConstructionRisk, LLC, providing risk management consulting services to design professionals, design-builders, and insurance carriers on construction projects. This includes assistance with contract drafting, review, and negotiation; change order and claims analysis (preparation or defense); and risk management counseling. ConstructionRisk, LLC reviews, redlines, and provides advice on well over 2,000 design professional contracts per year.
