WE must encourage our young potential engineers to pursue civil engineering majors by offering higher entry level salaries and more project responsibilities
in spite of the "glamor" offered by biomedical engineering, gaming and computer science, IT and other options.

Subject: What's the most significant challenge facing our industry in Georgia today?
The talent pool is stretched to its limit and with the infusion of more $ for infrastructure projects, the tsunami of impending retirements and the shrinking enrollment in engineering we are at a point of inflection. Traditional methods of addressing the human capital demand have been insufficient. We need to turn this conversation in a new direction for both recruitment and retention. A complex but critical issue to tackle.
