THE FUTURE OF THE ASCE ITHACA SECTION IS IN TRANSITION
Your Presence Is Requested 2024
The ASCE Ithaca Section was at a very important crossroads in 2017, and members stepped forward to provide leadership for a few years. Recently, we have not been able to find or entice many of our members to take over key leadership roles and now have fewer potential officers than before. As of April 2024, the Ithaca Section has 184 members including approximately 43 student members. Therefore, a discussion of changing section boundaries will be facilitated during the next few months at two different locations with a virtual option for both days. Succession was an option in 2017, however that has not been sustainable for a board of officers. Envelopment would occur by transferring your ASCE membership to a different Section, most likely either Rochester or Syracuse, depending on your address of record.
We have scheduled dinner meetings in Ithaca and Binghamton to discuss our recent past, our current activities, and possible future scenarios. You are invited to attend one or both meetings in person and virtually. The Ithaca Section will pay for your dinner for in person attendance and welcomes your input. Nonmember guests are welcome at a cost of $50 per person.
Please mark your calendars. The meetings will start at 5:30PM, with buffet dinner from 5:45pm to 6:45pm, the presentation and discussions to follow. The virtual part of the evening will begin about 6:45pm.:
