Thank you for all the responses, there are some really interesting sessions here! I look forward to attending as many as I can and meeting some of you!
I also wanted to share the session I am moderating Thursday 1:30-3pm Bayhill 21-22.
If you have been looking for business resources just for structural engineers, and especially if you are a current or aspiring manager, this session is for you. We're doing lightning talks (5-8 minutes long each) about 7 major business principals, and then break out tables where you can ask all your questions. This session is curated and presented by SEI's Business Practices Committee with a guest from the NCSEA SE3 committee.
Topics: Leadership development, Performance Reviews, Conflict Resolution, How to Fire Someone, Retention of Engineers, How to Read Financial Statements, and Sales/Marketing for Engineers.

Alicia Karwoski and I will be facilitating the session, "Leading and Learning from Teams" on Saturday, April 27 at 8:00 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. in Bayhill 21-22 and hope you will join us!
We will engage you in a highly-interactive session to hone your leadership skills and help you become a more impactful team leader. After a brief discussion on the current trends and realities that impact teams today, we will examine qualities of high performing and dysfunctional teams in order to create and sustain successful teams, learn about coaching and have an opportunity to practice coaching techniques, and consider how unconscious biases influence us and our teams. We will also look ahead to consider what changes might impact our work in the future so we can prepare ourselves and our teams.
In this session, you will:
- Identify different techniques of leadership required for teams
- Contemplate how changes in team dynamics impact success
- Anticipate changes and be strategic about how civil engineering teams may utilize technology

Hi all,
"If everyone is a changemaker, there's no way a problem can outrun a solution". --Bill Drayton
What does change mean in your personal and organizational life? How is it different than being innovative? How does any of those help you be more successful? Well, there's a lot to talk about here.
I will have a talk on "Becoming an Agent of Change and Innovation" this Friday at SEI Congress. It's a 90 minute semi-interactive session with group activities to learn similarities and differences between change and innovation, discuss general sources of change and innovation and examine some typical traits of effective change agents. After this session you will be able to:
• Differentiate between change and innovation
• List common sources of change and innovation
• Employ traits of successful change agents
• Describe opportunities for change and innovation
This session is part of "The Professional Skills Series in Leadership and Management" provided by ASCE Committee of Leadership and Management.
Looking forward to meeting you there.
This session scheduled for Friday, April 26 at 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. in Bayhill 21-22, Hyatt Regency Orlando at 9801 International Dr. Orlando, FL 32819.
Best
Reza

If you are presenting at Structures Congress next week, please reply to this thread with your topic, date/time of <g class="gr_ gr_2008 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Grammar only-ins doubleReplace replaceWithoutSep" id="2008" data-gr-id="2008">session</g>, and what attendees can expect to get out of your session.
I'm starting to consider which sessions I'll attend, and figure I'm not the only one. I can certainly read the program descriptions, so what I'd really like to know for the "what attendees should expect" part is: What about your topic/presentation is so compelling that I shouldn't miss it?
