ISO/TC 59 is the core technical committee within the International Organization for Standardization dedicated to buildings and civil engineering works. ISO/TC 59 establishes the overarching frameworks, operational processes, and performance rules that govern the entire lifecycle of the built environment.
TC 59's scope of work includes terminology (SC2), BIM (SC13), Sustainability in buildings and civil engineering works (SC 17), construction procurement (SC 18), resilience of buildings and civil engineering works (SC 20) all of current interest to ASCE members
Most of the work of TC 59 is done in its subcommittees of which there are ten. WFEO's current liaison status only allows participation in TC 59. To participate in the SCs e.g. SC 20 on resilience, WFEO would have to apply for liaison status to that SC.
