    ISI Mentoring

One way the Institute on Sustainability Infrastructure (ISI) is working with ASCE to support the Sustainable Solutions Competition is through mentoring. The intent is to connect interested project teams with experienced Envision users who can provide guidance and feedback about practical application of the Envision framework.

ASCE and ISI will facilitate connecting mentors with interested project teams. After the connection is made, communication will occur between the mentor and team captain, or another identified team member.

What project teams can expect from their mentor:

    • Mentors will attend two one-hour virtual meetings with the team, to answer questions and provide feedback on the application of Envision criteria.
    • Meetings will occur during the first quarter of 2026.
    • Timing for meetings will be determined mutually by the mentor and team members.

    The project team MUST:

    • Identify a team point of contact who will communicate with the mentor.
    • Communicate in a timely and professional manner.
    • Plan meetings with the mentor early in their overall work plan so feedback can be incorporated into the submission.
    • Prepare in advance and bring questions or discussion topics to meetings.

To request a mentor, the Sustainable Solutions team captain should complete the Envision Mentor Request Form by January 30, 2026. Note that while the mentor request form mentions receiving an email regarding your mentor by February 6th, ISI will prioritize connecting project teams from the Southeast and Gulf Coast Student Symposia sooner due to your earlier symposia dates.

    ENV SP Training

Another way ISI is supporting the 2026 ASCE Sustainable Solutions Competition is by offering complimentary training to become Envision Sustainability Professionals (ENV SP) for up to five (5) team members. Team captains and faculty advisors - please see your email (sent December 11) for the form, sent as an attachment. If you did not receive an email, make sure that your team has submitted a completed Intent Form; otherwise, contact student@.... Forms are due by January 30, 2026.

    ISI Intro to Envision Webinar

For teams wishing to learn more about Envision, ISI is hosting an "ISI Intro to Envision" webinar on January 15, 2026, at 2 p.m. EST. All student team members are invited. Register here. The webinar will be more focused on using Envision in practice, and is not focused on the Sustainable Solutions Competition.

    Reminders

    Project Submission Due Date

Please check your symposium website for the project submission due date specified in Mailer 1 (there should be a link to 'Mailers' at the top of the page) for the symposium that your team is competing at. You can use this link to find your symposium's website.

    Submission Links

ASCE will provide secure submission links to each team that has completed the Statement of Intent and Acknowledgement of Eligibility Requirement Form (Intent Form). Submission links will be sent out to each team in late January. The Intent Form must be completed by the team captain and the faculty advisor, separately. Please check the Intent Form Status Report to verify your team's submission.

    RFI deadline

Please refer to Section 4 of the ASCE Sustainable Solutions Competition Rules on how to submit an RFI. The cutoff date to submit RFIs is Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.

From ASCE to your teams and your families, happy sustainable holidays! β„οΈβ˜ƒοΈπŸŽπŸ¦ŒπŸŒ²βœ¨
