  • 1.  Concentrated Business Use Live Load

    I have a question that I'm not sure whether there is already an answer to.

    I was wondering whether there should be consideration for an entry for office live load for concentrated business use in ASCE 7.  Concentrated business use is specified in CBC sec 1004.8 with an occupant load factor of 50, whereas typical office occupant load factor of 150.  Currently ASCE 7 only has one entry for office - 50 psf.  I know there is a lot of probability involved in the determination of the 50 psf, involving things like people congregating, etc.  So I don't feel qualified to say whether 50 psf is appropriate or inappropriate for concentrated business use.  Has there been studies on this occupancy?
