Bull Run Branch January 2025 Dinner Meeting
    Loudoun Water – Ashburn Virginia

Mark your calendars, the next Bull Run Branch Dinner Meeting will be on January 29, 2025, at the Loudoun Water Facility.  As part of our effort to serve all our Branch Member, we will be holding this meeting in Loudoun County.  We will begin with an opportunity to network with fellow ASCE Members beginning at 6:00 PM, dinner at 6:30, followed by our business portion of the meeting including  Branch Officer Installation, updates on planned activities for the Branch, and then our feature presentation.  We plan to have a one hour presentation including Q&As, for which you will be award a PDH.  We expect to be finished by 8:30 PM.

The address is:  Loudoun Water (https://maps.app.goo.gl/B16J6WwnHSMMGdGt7)
44865 Loudoun Water Way, Ashburn, VA 20147

You will, of course, be provided with food and drinks, except there will be no bottled water since, after all, we are in a Facility that produces drinking water for Loudoun County.  We will also have desserts.

Our speaker will be Thom Lipinski, Loudoun Water’s  Director of Planning & Water Resources. You will learn about how Loudoun Water provides a safe and secure backup supply of drinking water using an abandon rock quarry to store water from the Potomac during high flows in the winter for use during the summer when flow levels drop.  In addition, you will learn about the potable water treatment processes used to ensure high quality potable water will be distributed to residents in Loudoun County.

For those that missed our recent Field Trip to Loudoun Water, sorry.  However, this Dinner Meeting will be an excellent opportunity to learn about the quarry and treatment processes.  More importantly, since the work to use the quarry continues, we plan to continue making Field Trips to view the progress.  See attached photos from the Field Trip.  For those on the Field Trip, this will be a great chance to ask those follow-up questions, while also networking with other Civil Engineers and also learning about what the Bull Run Branch has planned for 2025.  So, all are invited, especially our members located in Loudoun and nearby counties.
