Rostyslav Sipakov, Ph.D., M.ASCE, is a principal with CoastalQuant, Inc. He has more than 20 years of experience in the civil construction industry. For the past eight years, his primary work has been on issues of sustainable construction that aim to develop an adequately sustainable human habitat. Before starting his business in the U.S., Rostyslav held senior leadership positions at construction companies, specializing in new construction and reconstruction of existing buildings on various projects throughout east Europe (Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine).
Dr. Sipakov is a frequent conference speaker for the Kyiv National University of Architecture and Construction and works as an affiliated researcher. His research areas are related to developing custom sustainability principles and are made up of the following areas:
Building technologies and infrastructure resilience across coastal regions,
Interactive effects of air pollution and climate change on the urbanizing world,
The smart city ecosystem.
During his scientific career since 2016, he has published over 20 refereed and reference papers and reports.
He was elected a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) in 2021 and is an active member of numerous professional organizations such as the International Code Council (ICC), the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure (ISI), Environmental & Water Resources Institute (EWRI), Construction Management Association of America (CMAA), and IEEE Computer Society.
Dr. Sipakov received his Doctorate (Ph.D.) in Ecological Safety Engineering from Kyiv National University of Architecture and Construction in 2021, and Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Civil Engineering from Belarusian National Technical University. He also holds an MBA degree.
