The Journal of Sustainable Water in the Built Environment has published the first paper in the ASCE Library. "Rainwater Collection and Management from Roofs at the Edison Environmental Center," by T. O’Connor and M. Amin is now freely available for reading. Over the last several years, modifications at the EPA’s Edison Environmental Center have reduced stormwater discharges to the existing conveyance system. Roof runoff from approximately 0.28 ha (0.69 acres) was directed to bioinfiltration units to infiltrate into the ground while rainfall from another 0.14 ha (0.34 acres) is captured for non-potable purposes. These runoff diversions are expected to annually prevent 3.4 x 106 L (9.0 x 105 gal) from entering the stormwater conveyance system. Water quality analysis indicated that mean roof runoff concentrations were below drinking water standard levels with one exception.
