    Dr. Greg Williams will be joining the ASCE NC Coastal Branch for our August meeting to discuss “The Sand for Carolina Beach Nourishment: What Happens When It’s Dredged?” Dr. Williams will provide an inside look at the beach nourishment process, including where nourishment sand comes from, how it is dredged, transported, and ultimately placed along the shoreline.

    Dr. Williams is a coastal engineering professional and educator with experience in coastal processes, dredging, and beach nourishment. His presentation will provide an engaging look at the practical engineering behind one of the most important coastal protection strategies used along North Carolina's beaches.

    The presentation will be held August 25, 2026, from 5:00–6:00 PM at Sayed Hall, Room 162, at UNCW. One PDH will be available to attendees, and an optional tour of the State of the art Coastal Engineering Facility will follow the presentation.
