Welcome to the Cleveland Chapter

Good day Cleveland Area COPRI members!

Hope this note finds you & your family’s safe/happy/well.

We have established a CLE Area COPRI Chapter with the hopes to get everyone involved in all the great things ASCE and COPRI have to offer. First, I would like to introduce myself...a native from Rochester, New York, I am a Coast Guard Officer, Civil, Ocean, NA&ME type, that has been stationed at the U.S. Coast Guard's (USCG) Civil Engineering Unit (CEU) in Cleveland, Ohio for the last three years. CEU Cleveland oversees, manages and performs depot level maintenance activities to the USCG's portfolio within the Great Lakes and Mid-Atlantic regions.

I would like to start by thanking each one of you for being a member of COPRI and would like to encourage you to become an active member in the local Cleveland Chapter; while doing this, I look forward to getting to know each and every one of you.

In order to help make this Chapter possible, I would like to ask for volunteers to fill some Chapter leadership roles. I will be taking on the Chapter Chair for 2020-2021, we need a Vice-Chair, Secretary and Treasurer. Here are the basic (not exclusive and will most likely develop) duties and responsibilities of each:

Chair – Oversees the basic functions of the committee, ensures fairness and respect is maintained during all committee functions as well as attends ASCE Cleveland Section meetings to represent Chapter.

Vice Chair – Backup to the Chair and will take over the Chair position once the Chair resigns.

Secretary – Documents and distributes meeting minutes and agendas.

Treasurer – Manages & oversees Chapter funds if/when received.

I am going to request that each person hold the respective position for one year and new (or those who would like to remain) people that would like to fill a position will be selected/voted/volunteer in the Spring of the new year to occur NLT 31May.

In addition, I would like to use ASCE Collaborate (Cleveland Chapter) as our primary means of documenting meeting minutes, events, links, photos, etc.

I am sure I missed something but I would like to have a Zoom meeting sometime this month; I will send out a meeting invite with the information.

Please let me know if you have any questions and/or concerns, thank you and looking forward to connecting with each of you!

Kind regards,

Jon
