I agree with Chad Morrison and to add to it: Your supervisor may actually be busy, but not busy enough to mentor and inspire his/her staff. In my experience, I encourage my guys to take a legitimate stab (as Chad describes) at the problem at hand, and depending on the task if they're still 'spinning' ...
