Mr. Charles Mumford, A.M.ASCE





Bio

Mr. Mumford is a civil engineer for AECOM and is a recent transplant to the Honolulu, HI office. Prior to joining AECOM’s West Region, Mr. Mumford was a graduate civil engineer in the Newark, DE office. He has design experience from a variety of civil, transportation, and municipal engineering projects. He has rail, highway design, and construction engineering experience from the AECOM offices in Philadelphia, Wilmington, and now Honolulu. Mr. Mumford has focused on work in the HART Rail Project, Rapid Bridge Replacement P3 Construction inspection, PWD Green Stormwater Infrastructure roadway design and ADA Curb Ramp Plans, various highway, traffic, and roadway design in PA, DE, and HI; USAID roadway reconstruction, DelDOT construction, bridge foundation repair, survey, estimates, and bridge inspections; Amtrak ADA Stations Program design work, CIPLL construction inspection, USACE bridge and culvert inspections reports; he has performed local bridge load ratings, and supported various bridge, civil, and site design tasks all under the guidance of Professional Civil Engineers. Prior to joining AECOM, Mr. Mumford served as a Graduate Bridge Engineer for Pennoni Associates, Inc. in their Newark, DE office.

Mr. Mumford earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from Temple University (with a structural emphasis) as well as a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Hebrew and LGBTQ studies. Mr. Mumford has also lived and worked in Israel and Mexico.  Fueled by an inner passion for mathematics and problem solving, for these reasons, he returned to Temple University for his B.S. in Civil Engineering.  

Mr. Mumford is currently serving a second year term as a member of ASCE National’s Committee on Pre-College Outreach. From 2015 to 2018, Mr. Mumford served on the ASCE Philadelphia Section’s Younger Member Forum (ASCE Philly-YMF) board to inspire future civil engineers. As K-12 Outreach Co-Chair, he directed their efforts in reaching out to a record-setting 1,300 students across Greater Philadelphia in the 2015/2016 school year alone. In February 2018, he was recognized at ASCE’s Eastern Regional Younger Member Conference as project lead for an Outstanding Younger Member Group Project related to STEM outreach. In February of 2017, he was recognized at ASCE’s Eastern Regional Younger Member Conference as Outstanding Young Civil Engineer in Community Activities for his outstanding leadership and dedicated service to the community.
