ASCE calls for Missouri CEs to vote for sales tax to fund highway construction

ASCE is now asking members to support Missouri Constitutional Amendment 7 which would primarily fund road construction by assessing a state-wide sales tax on highway users and non-users alike.
The sales tax is clearly unfair to those who do not use the roads - or own cars for that matter. The tax is regressive - and, as conservatives are ordinarily quick to point out, will serve as a 'job killer'.
I would like to see the results of polling on this issue. I trust that the consciences of Missouri Civil Engineers will not allow them to support Constitutional Amendment 7.
