Dr. Li’s expertise ranges from numerical modeling of extreme natural hazards to risk assessment and structural reliability in the current and changing climate. He has more than ten years of experience in extreme wind hazard assessment, wind engineering consultation, renewable energy, risk quantification, structural reliability evaluation, and catastrophe modeling. He has strong expertise in data science, statistics, natural hazard assessment from a local scale to a national scale, and risk and resilience assessment using climate models and catastrophe modeling. Dr. Li’s industrial practices and academic research have covered cities and regions in North America, Asia, Europe, Australia, Africa, and the Antarctic. He has many peer-reviewed publications, has been a peer reviewer for many academic journals, and has been invited many times as a member of the Thesis Evaluation Board for Ph.D. scholars. Some of his works have been used as a basis to update several international building codes and standards.
