Bio

David Darwin, Ph.D., P.E., F.SEI, F.AAAS, Hon.M.ACI, Dist.M.ASCE has a wide range of research interests in structural engineering and engineering materials. He was a pioneer in nonlinear finite element analysis of reinforced concrete and has made important contributions in the fields of steel-concrete composite structures, bond between reinforcing steel and concrete, concrete materials, corrosion, and bridge construction. Current research includes methods of improving the durability of bridges, reducing corrosion of reinforcing steel, minimizing cracking in concrete structures, and evaluating the anchorage of high-strength reinforcement using hooked and headed bars.
