My concern would be getting the additional load transferred to a new foundation, not the one the old brick building is supported on. If I were doing something like this. I would design a frame of some configuration that would sit over the old brick walls and support it on an independent foundation if ...

Check the IBC. I do not have a copy here, but as I recall, there are considerations. Ignoring the existing buildings would be conservative as long as there wasn't some type of Venturi effect. The safety factor normally would be considered during the development of the geotechnical phase of the project in recommending an allowable bearing capacity.
