Dear Dibya,
Most of the construction industry is traditionally very slow to adopt new technologies. Some bigger companies will use VR/AR but the main issue is that with where the technology stands you cannot use VR/AR in the production cycle from scratch to finish. Right now, engineering companies will use AR over VR because it is easier to use. VR detaches you from the physical environment and that is a big drawback. That is not to say that VR does not have it's place, it does, but the headsets are awkward to say the least.
At my company we are at the forefront of AR/VR in geotechnical engineering, that is by choice rather than by commercial application. On the software side, developing in AR/VR takes time with uncertain return. It is seen as a toy and not a necessity. So, one has to play the long run and see that in ten years things will be different. This is some of the work that we have done.
