This free webinar series is a joint effort between the History & Heritage Committees from ASCE, ICE, and CSCE.
The next topic is “The Prince of Wales Fort –
Canadian Conservation of an English White Elephant”
Built in northern Manitoba on the shore of Hudson Bay, the Prince of Wales fort is the largest fortification ever built by a private company. The talk will cover why the fort was built, how it was constructed, why it can be thought of as a white elephant and what has, and is, being done to conserve it.
