  • 1.  Gaining experiences for two-year college students

    Dear ASCE members,

I have just graduated from a two-year college, and I want to gain more knowledge as well as experiences this summer.
I feel my lack of knowledge in engineering and this pandemic make everything harder to find an internship.
Can you give me some advice in this case?

    Thanks,
    Nhu

    Hey Vo,

I feel you. I graduated a while ago, so I can't shed too much light on this, hopefully someone else will. But if you are interested in learning and continuing education, I recently found a resource from www.nap.edu. It is a national database of academic information, standards, practices, and guidelines. I guess others who would respond to this thread would be interested in knowing what YOU would be interested before they give you advice. I believe most people excel at their interests and I think the only thing with being a younger person who just got out of college is really lacking the experience to know what profession really suits you. Some engineers encourage exploring different specialities, in a sense, to really get to know yourself, and after that you will find that your profession will find you.

I found this through NSA's LinkedIn webpage and it is a Virtual Career Expo with Equal Opportunity Publications, called STEM Diversity Career Expo. They also have expos in different locations and at different dates. You can find it on NSA's linkedin or go to EOP.com
