Hello, 

I have the task to analyze the possible loads a seaport (used to transport gasoline from ships) can experience in its lifetime.

Such forces may include earthquake, wind, mooring, berthing, tsunami, hurricane waves, <g class="gr_ gr_222 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling ins-del multiReplace" id="222" data-gr-id="222">portlifting</g>/buoyancy, etc. My question is: Is there a specific guide for the load combinations/load factors for the analysis of the forces? If so, can someone provide it?

Since this is a liquid bulk terminal, the appropriate guideline to follow is PIANC Report No. 153-2016 "Recommendations for the Design and Assessment of Marine Oil & Petrochemical Terminals". I've attached a slide on how you can order this document. Note this document is currently being revised to include LNG, Floating LNG, SPMs and MBMs.

There are a number of available resources. You can look into Section 3103F of MOTEMS; this document is specifically developed for the design of Marine Oil Terminals.

As already stated, the MOTEMS (Marine Oil Terminal Engineering and Maintenance Standards), is codified into the California Building Code, and is available as a free download from slc.ca.gov.

The PIANC WG 153 document does not provide specific load combination factors, but will in the next edition.  You might also want to look at the Port of Long Beach "Wharf Design Criteria".

For mooring line SF values, etc. that are specific to MOTs, suggest the MOTEMS, which also has the fire suppression requirements - also in PIANC WG 153.

Some excellent sources are recommended. Here is another one:

Thoresen, CA 2003. Port Designer's Handbook: Recommendations and Guidelines. Thomas Telford.

You may find out that actual load combinations will likely depend, for example on the field data showing the concurrence of certain loads. This together with some judgmental factors is the way to go.
