Mr. Prateek Srivastava, M.ASCE

Bio

Prateek Srivastava is a structural engineer, climate advocate, and systems thinker based in New York City, with nearly a decade of experience designing sustainable, resilient infrastructure. His portfolio encompasses high-rise buildings, wastewater treatment plants, and bridges, with a growing emphasis on integrating carbon-smart design throughout the built environment.

A graduate of Penn State with a master’s degree in Structural Engineering, Prateek brings a deep technical foundation in concrete and bridge design, building forensics, and structural analysis. He pairs this expertise with a strong commitment to sustainability, advising national decarbonization efforts through his leadership in the SE2050 Commitment and Infra2050 Bridges Group, as well as his membership on the ASCE SEI Advisory Council, where he advises the Board of Governors on sustainability and the future of structural engineering.

In 2025, Prateek was recognized as the Young Engineer of the Year by the Structural Engineers Association of New York (SEAoNY), following his Early Career Award from Penn State’s College of Engineering in 2023.

A JUST Scholar of the International Living Future Institute and a Grand Challenge Scholar of the National Academy of Engineering, Prateek continues to expand his impact beyond technical practice. He mentors emerging professionals through The Green Program, leads global infrastructure initiatives with Engineers Without Borders USA’s New York Professional Chapter—impacting over 10,000 people worldwide—and spearheads sustainability initiatives within Stantec’s New York City office.

Previously, Prateek served as President of the Indian Graduate Student Association at Penn State and hosted industry podcasts and workshops on embodied carbon, resilience, and life-cycle design.

Thriving at the intersection of technical depth, strategic leadership, and climate impact, Prateek believes that multidisciplinary collaboration is essential to addressing the world’s most pressing challenges. As Louisa May Alcott wrote, “It takes two flints to make a fire.”
