Currently, I am a Mining Engineer SSO, Senior SME for the US Department of Energy at the Carlsbad Field Office's (CBFO) Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) in Carlsbad, New Mexico. I provide senior technical advice and recommendations to the CBFO Director, Facility Engineering Division, on matters pertaining to mining engineering, ground control, mine safety, underground mine construction and drift, back and ribs maintenance, mine shaft and hoist construction and maintenance, surface mining facilities, and systems construction and maintenance, and input and coordinates with other CBFO staff.
Formerly, I was an Adjunct Professor (Mining) at the Colorado School of Mines. I was also the founding Department Head/Chair of Civil Engineering and an Associate Professor at the University of Kurdistan - Hewler (Erbil). I was responsible for the development of the program, recruiting new faculty and managing the overall program. I also taught courses in civil, mining, and groundwater engineering to sophomore, junior and senior level engineering students.
I have over 25 years of experience in engineering and geology. I am a multi-disciplinary engineer and a licensed Professional Engineer in mining, civil and geological engineering. I am a Board-Certified Environmental Engineer and Diplomate, Water Resources Engineer.
I graduated with degrees in mining and geological engineering from the Colorado School of Mines which is ranked #1 in the world in mining and mineral engineering by QS World University Rankings since 2016. I have conducted numerous mining and geological investigations. I have supervised office and field personnel to complete feasibility studies and engineering designs and drawings for the production of base metals, oil and gas and water. I have prepared reports for mineral assessments; delineated all types of natural resources. I have prepared written technical reports (e.g., feasibility studies, contract documents and final design reports) for all engineering assignments. I have managed both field and office personnel including engineers, geologists, contractors. I have worked in the United States, Saudi Arabia, Kurdistan-Iraq, Bolivia and Peru.
