Mr. Ronald Boenau, P.E., F.ASCE





Bio

Ronald E. Boénau, P.E. is an International Transportation Research Advisor with over 40 years experience in transportation research, development, demonstration, deployment, data-based evaluations and related training. Most of this experience has been with the research offices of FHWA, FTA and Florida DOT with 30 years in the USDOT ITS Initiative which included responsibilities as ITS Transit Division Chief. ITS work involved collaborating with state and local governments to identify and deploy advanced technologies and innovative user services that are cost-effective and applicable for unique circumstances for each ITS project. He received the USDOT Silver Medal, one of the three highest medals that can be given by the Secretary of Transportation, for exceptional service during the ITS deployment, outreach and international collaboration years. Mr. Boénau continues to advance transportation technology and innovative user services through his responsibilities in technical committees with ITE, SAE, ASCE and TRB and is regularly invited to speak at national and international conferences annually on ITS deployment in the U.S. Mr. Boénau has an AA in Science and an AA in Arts from the State College of Florida; a BCE in Transportation from the University of Florida and an MSCE in Transportation from the University of Maryland in addition to completed certificate programs in Highway Safety and Traffic Study from the Graduate Schools at Northwestern University and the University of Mississippi.
