At a recent conference, an attendee mentioned steps he had taken as a municipal engineer in preparation for a large parade to keep horse "droppings" from ending up in the street inlets along the parade route.

I'm curious if anyone else has any interesting experiences or thoughts on how large events (parades, Olympics, World Cup, etc.) impact the work of Civil Engineers.
