Thanks for taking some time learning about who I am.I am a native Southern Californian born and raised in the beach cities of Los Angeles County. I grew up in El Segundo and graduated from ES High School leveraging my great education and musical background to get into USC. At USC, I studied civil engineering and spent four years in the Trojan Marching Band.My first couple of years out of college I spent working for the public sector at Caltrans. Had I stayed there I'm sure my pension would be huge but I left for the private sector where I worked for two different transportation design firms.I have run my own civil engineering and surveying business since 1996 in San Pedro, CA, and recently acquired a structural engineering firm in Costa Mesa, CA - Ken Okamoto & Associates. I have discovered Sam Carpenter's Work The System book and classes which are helping my business run better.Currently, I am a City Councilman in Rancho Palos Verdes.I am always looking to build business relations with public agencies, contractors, and other design firms (architects, MEP, etc.) to pursue work mostly in Southern California.I have found that my clients are seeking knowledgeable and honest professionals to provide them engineering consultations, construction documents (plans, specifications), and project oversight in a cost effective manner.I hire staff that can learn quickly, be reliable, and become part of my firm's experienced staff. My goal is to continually provide easy to follow and troublefree solutions to all of my clients.I owe my early success to my parents, Janice and Jack Cruikshank, who helped guide me in the right direction.
