I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Sustainable Biomaterials at Virginia Tech. My specialty area is the use of plant-derived fiber sources in construction. My research spans the areas of mass timber, bamboo, and hemp fiber products. I teach courses in BIM in Wood Construction, Green Building, and the Design of Wood Structures. My service and outreach focuses on creating a larger sense of belonging and ownership of natural resources and buildings for under-represented and at-risk populations.
