Nathan, I took the exam in college ('88) and it was called the EIT exam. In fact, it was mandatory that engineering students take the exam at our college of engineering. That last sentence is a doozy. I am unfamiliar with what constitutes the FE and PE exams these days. I took the E.I.T and the PE many moons prior to the creation of the SE designation.
