    Hello everyone,

I am currently doing a research study on traffic signals, and would really appreciate it if you could please take a moment just to answer the survey question via the link below. Thank you!

    Hi Peter Yu,

The traffic lighting systems are for drivers to communicate with eachother and manage driving behavior without having to directly communicate with other drivers. Some speed limits are fast and dangerous and the yellow light is to warn drivers when they are approaching an intersection that they have a certain distance and time to begin applying their breaks. It is very important that drivers get a warning time before the light turns immediately to red to prevent accidents.

As Lee mentioned a well maintained road will last a while. With roads maintenance is very fundamental and therefore the most economical way around pothole repairs logically would be to ensure that it is right at the time it has been identified. This I believe should begin with investigating what was the cause such that the repair is effective and objective to the cause.

Secondly, it is important that a proper procedure is carried out while repairs are done. I come Uganda, a developing country and I can say that repairs are hardly done the way they ought to be done. For example, ensure the pot hole is well trimmed, no lose material, it is not wet, right thickness to be compacted, proper compaction and well prepared material we hardly get these right and the pothole repairs hardly last as they ought to.

There's not much to reinvent the wheel in this area but to do what ought to be done aptly. That's what I think. Good luck with research mate.
