Installation of wastewater laterals below and after installation of potable water line

    Good morning,

I have a project that has been impacted by wastewater manhole production.  This is all new construction.  We have both the water and wastewater line delivered to the site.  The typical order of operations would be to install the deepest utility first (wastewater) and then move to the next deepest.  The contractor is proposing to install the waterline first and then come back to install the wastewater, which crosses under the waterline by roughly 6-10 feet depending on location. The contractor will not install waterline over wastewater mains, but would install over proposed laterals.  I have concerns about the ability to achieve proper compaction under the waterline and over the wastewater.  I am also concerned that there will be unforeseen issues with this order of installation.  Has anyone had experience with this? Can you offer your advice? Please feel free to ask me more questions.

    Thank you!
