When & Where

Jun 13 - 17, (ET)

Description

“Bridging Career and Life” is a new ASCE career Q&A video series with Luis Duque, a young bridge engineer ready to share the wisdom learned on his engineering journey with others.

Luis will be taking questions about employment benefits – what to expect, what to ask for in a “Ask Me Anything” (AMA) thread in Career by Design. Please register to receive a notification when the thread opens on June 13th for you to submit your questions. You can submit questions, June 13 to 24th; then Luis will be answering your questions in a video during the last week of June. Please take advantage of this awesome opportunity!

All questions must comply with the ASCE Collaborate Code of Conduct

More about Luis:

Luis Duque currently works as a  Bridge Engineer at Foothills Bridge Co. Foothills provides engineered solutions for the erection, retrofitting, and dismantling of bridges. Some interesting projects he has worked on recently including various temporary scaffolds and structures on the Golden Gate Bridge and demolition of the Central 70 viaduct in Denver, Colorado.

As a student at South Dakota State University, he conducted research focusing on the inspection of bridges using drones. This research really sparked his passion for structural engineering, bridges, and technology.

In his spare time, he produces the  Engineering our Future podcast. In the show, he brings guests from all over the world to share their knowledge about engineering, professional development, productivity, and much more.

Also, check out the podcast on YouTube and the Newsletter for random bits of knowledge about engineering or any other thing he is working on/learning about.

Beyond the podcast, he volunteers in numerous organizations and activities. He is a firm believer that the knowledge he has is worthless unless he shares it and helps others through his skills. Some organizations I volunteer with are ASCEEWBSEI, and SHPECheck some of the international projects I have worked on with EWB. The work with these organizations led him to be recognized as one of ten New Faces of Civil Engineering by ASCE in 2020.
