    Hi folks,

I am looking to add some more podcasts to my list. Does anyone have any recommendations? I would especially love it if they are hosted by fellow civil engineers!

My personal current favorites are the following:
    • https://engineeringchangepodcast.com/ - Engineering Change is the podcast designed to help REDEFINE the engineering education experience as we know it by: RE-imaging who we see as engineers and what we see as engineering, DE-siloing academic programs and problem-solving, and FINE-tuning academic culture and climate using best practices for diversity, equity, and inclusion so people from all backgrounds can succeed. Hosted by renowned engineering educator, Dr. Yvette E. Pearson, each episode will leave listeners with strategies you can put into practice wherever you are in the process of ENGINEERING CHANGE.
    • http://www.luisfelipeduque.com/podcast - Luis Duque from Engineering our Future Podcast provides meaningful and educational conversations with some of the best and brightest engineers and professionals around the world so you can stay ahead of the curve in your career. Learn what the best engineers are working on, creating, and teaching so you can develop the skills needed to maintain your role as a key member of society!

Looking forward to reading your answers!

We cannot go without mentioning ASCE Plot Points with Ben Walpole ASCE Plot Points Podcast Archives | Civil Engineering Source

and Anthony Fasano, PE Podcasts (engineeringmanagementinstitute.org)

One of the most popular podcasts is Dr. Death - Dr. Death - Wondery - Feel The Story
This podcast requires listener discretion.  Like the medicine, engineering is a self-regulated profession.  I recommend this podcast to learn the pitfalls of self-regulation and to gain an understanding the reporting and disciplinary process for complaints.

I'm cohost of the PhD Talk podcast
The podcast is mostly aimed at PhD candidates and addresses research skills, research mechanics and lived experiences. However, I'm a civil engineering professor and my co-host is a PhD candidate in civil engineering, so we do reflect on and discuss topics related to our field.

Themed attraction Is a great one If you're interested in theme park design - The hosts are a little more from the art and planning side since they are master planing engineers  But I think that's good for engineers- plus yours truly was featured in an episode.

I also really appreciate the Freakonomics podcast

Car Talk.  Click and Clack aren't making new shows but their greatest hits from nearly 40 years of radio broadcasts are.  They mostly talk about car stuff but almost any topic can come up and the weekly puzzler is always fun.

538 - a combination of statistics and politics and sports.
Also like Pod Save the World - it gives insight on world wide events that get little coverage on the front page of papers

I actually just listened to one that was advertised by the host in another thread here.

    https://collaborate.asce.org/careerbydesign/communities/community-home/digestviewer/viewthread?MessageKey=328645b5-66cc-4e6b-82cf-4b76d98dd3bd&CommunityKey=78ae5b12-b515-4f9b-803f-739cb4239b86&tab=digestviewer#bm328645b5-66cc-4e6b-82cf-4b76d98dd3bd

Additionally, if you have an interest in investing, I listen to a podcast called the Meb Faber show.  He used to be a biotech engineer before deciding stocks were more his thing. To be honest, this podcast probably isn't for everyone as it uses a lot of very industry specific investing terms and assumes a general knowledge of a lot of market mechanisms. I don't have those things and probably take away a lot less than other people do from it. What keeps me going back to it is the general takeaways that always seem to converge - it doesn't matter what you invest in, or how you invest, so much as that you invest responsibly.

Creating Structure Podcast - Interviews and Discussions about life, business, architecture, construction, and more.  Hosted by a structural/architectural engineer who specializes in building envelope design.
    https://www.listennotes.com/podcasts/creating-structure-john-wheaton-Cs6v0RDLTkG/

    And some other favorites:
99% Invisible - It's a favorite for its deep dives/insights/perspectives on an eclectic range of topics.  Love the variety and deep insights on a variety of topics I might never encounter otherwise but are applicable to other aspects of your life oftentimes.
    https://99percentinvisible.org/

Twenty Thousand Hertz - Well produced podcast (because it's hosted by sound design professionals) that delves into the history of the word's most recognizable and interesting sounds.
    https://www.20k.org/

A few other mainstream educational ones I often listen to include:  Planet Money, Planet Money's The Indicator, Freakonomics, Malcolm Gladwell's Revisionist History (only old episodes but great if you haven't heard them yet!), The Inquiry by BBC.

Hope you find some to enjoy!

Chuck Marohn was a civil engineer who started noticing some conflicts between engineering practices and human wellbeing. If you can manage to avoid taking his criticism of our profession (and ASCE's infrastructure report card) personally, there's a lot to be gained by listening.

I'm not a big podcast listener - maybe a generational thing - but I really enjoyed the Richest Hill, https://buttepodcast.org/. The subject of this podcast is Butte MT and the past, present and future of one of America's most notorious Superfund sites. It's a cautionary tale of boom and bust and the profound consequences of (bad) decision making. It's a fascinating weave of technical and non-technical issues.

I have heard of the ASCE Plot Point too. Here are a few more podcasts to add to the bucket.

    1. The Civil Engineering Podcast:
    https://podcast.app/the-civil-engineering-podcast-p5745/?utm_source=ios&utm_medium=share

    2.  A Sustainable Mindset:
This podcast shared stories from people from all over the world who are involved in environmentally friendly and sustainable work and life, if you need a break from CE material and want to hear similar stories in and around our industry you can find some on this podcast.
    https://podcast.app/a-sustainable-mind-environment-sustainability-podcast-p110243/?utm_source=ios&utm_medium=share

I noticed that some of these podcasts are only available with certain podcast apps. They are kind of dispersed.

I can back the 538 and Car Talk ones previously mentioned.

In the realm of the sciences one that I like that only had a few shows was "Catastrophe" by Jess Phoenix. She's a geologist/volcanist who in the show looked at various things like oil rig explosions, plane decompressions, etc. The human error, design flaws, and other decision making issues that lead to the catastrophe.

It's not the highest quality of podcast and the show is only like 15 episodes or so, but it was enjoyable to me.
